Am I the only person on all the internet who didn’t love this fic? I mean emmagrant is amazing. Her writing is superb, and I’ve fangirled over pretty much everything she’s ever done, so I totally get it guys. But for whatever reason this fic just didn’t do it for me. The characters felt off. And I want in on all the emmagrant writes 82k of John/Sherlock slash (and het) porn flailing.

….I feel so alone

Knowing fandom, I seriously doubt you’re the only one ;-)  One thing I’ve always found fascinating about fanfic is that it can be a form of analysis. The writer can pick apart characters, scenes, and relationships, and hold them up to the light and change a few things, introduce some new variables, and then try to imagine what happens next. Obviously that’s all done from one person’s perspective on the canon and the characters, and in the end it either rings true with someone else’s vision of those characters and that canon or it doesn’t.  I’m frankly astonished that so many people seem to have decided that this fic works for them because when I started writing it I thought it would go over like a lead balloon. Fairly cracky premise, lots of OCs, wall-to-wall sex (most of it not between John and Sherlock and much of it *gasp* het) — hell, given that description, I’d be wary about reading it myself. So yeah, color me surprised that anyone read it at all!

So, uh, got any recs for things you like, things that work for you?  I am on a serious fic-reading binge right now, having read almost nothing for the last month and a half while I was working on this fic. I have a long backlog of fics and authors that I’m already enjoying reading my way through, but I’m always looking for more!
